Go A.P. Jaguars!!!

JASPER SAYS: It was cool at A.P. Giannini Step Up Night. First the school band played. They played Michael Jackson, Pirates of the Caribbean, and two other songs I didn't know. I signed up for band. Then, the Principle and some of the teachers talked. After that we went down to where they were selling the A. P. Giannini gear and I got sweatpants and a sweatshirt. The A. P. Giannini mascot is the Jaguar. I think A. P. Giannini is going to be a good school for me.

First Day of School... Already

Jasper's last year of elementary school (5th grade). Silas starting 2nd grade.

What a great summer, can't believe it is already over. We are looking forward to hunkering down and enjoying the rhythms of fall: family, school, friends, and surf.

School Field Trip to PetCo

SILAS SAYS: It was so fun at PetCo because we got to look at reptiles like snakes and we go to pet and albino baby king snake. We got to pet some other snakes and we got to pet guinea pigs and chinchillas and we got to look at fish. We walked there from our school and there we got these pictures of this Easter thing and who ever colors the best picture wins the Easter contest. Then they will give them a gift card.

Hey Old Man

Silas performed today in his class play. Room 12 presented Rikki Tikki Tembo. It was a great effort by all involved with lots of singing and a good moral. Silas played one of three old men who brought the rope to the well to save the boys. He was by far the most in character as he sloughed around with his cane and squinted like an old man. The kids and parents watching noticed our little ham.

Pomp and Circumstance

SILAS - a whiz, curious, imaginative, creative-pattern maker beyond belief, a sweet, cuddly, teddy bear... mini moo.

- Sunset Teachers: Laura, Linda, Jackie, and Andy

Wonderful, emotional graduation ceremony for Silas from Sunset Coop Nursery School. Such a home for us for the last six years and the center of our community in San Francisco. The Master of Ceremonies Laura Ossa knows how to create ritual and ring every last drop of emotion from the community.

Silas' graduating class of 10 people I have come to know and love deeply through Wednesday workdays where I spent 3 hours every week getting dirty and making up silly games. Seeing these proud small human hearts dress up and get their diplomas just cracked me. I will miss these little ones, our times in the sand and with ropes. I also had the honor of playing bass in the house band for graduation. Laura led the songs, all heart wrenching songs aimed at maximum emotion. We will miss Sunset School, but we have summer school so we will be able to ween ourselves more slowly.

Andy, Jackie, Linda, and Laura graduating Silas

Proud and teary Dada

Hats off to Sunset School!
