Family Christmas in Sonoma and San Francisco

JASPER SAYS: I had a very fun time at Christmas because all my family was there. I got a bunch of good presents from them. We went surfing with everybody because Noah got a new wetsuit and had a really fun time because he was much warmer. Everybody got good presents and we had a fun time playing with them. I had a very, very good Christmas.

SILAS SAYS: Here is a secret: look at Mia above. I had a really fun Christmas because I got a lot of stuff I like. One of the things I got was a sketch book and I like the sketchbook because I love drawing. Since I like Nutella a lot, my dad got me a shirt that says Nutella. You should see it because it is hilarious. Just like Jasper said, Noah got a fun wetsuit, if you look at some of the other blogs we made you will see a little kid looking 2 or 3 years old showing his muscles and making a really funny face with his two front teeth sticking out.

RC Christmas

Thanks Jim and Judy for the RC cars. The rock on the beach.

SILAS Says: Dada is right, they are really rockin on the beach. We drove them off the Boogie Board and over a lot of different people, like me, Hayden, Mia, Renee, and Elijah (see below).

Tin Tin Adventures

I read Tin Tin as a you boy and still have the original first english editions I read as a kid. Now Jasper and Noah are diving in and can't get enoough Tin Tins. We consolidated books from the Crockers in Del Mar and now have the complete collection. We also have two that are not from the main set, Tin Tin in the Congo and Lake of the Sharks. The toy in the picture is a Tin Tin car I bought in France in 1992.

Ocean Beach Going Off

Picture taken from the deck this week. I was home sick watching these bombs come through. I healed up enough to catch the tail end of this brilliat swell.

Crocker Sibs in SF for the Weekend

With Amy living at the house we seem to be attracting a lot more Crockers and their relations. Maybe it's the multi-course home cooked meals. Ari, George, and Leah joined the six of us, Amy, Stacy, Noah, Silas, Jasper and DaDa. Meals for about 10 people each night. Beautiful sunny surf. And a visit with Amy at her new job, can anyone guess where she works?

Dipsea Day

Spent the afternoon hiking a portion of the Dipsea trail from Pan Toll Station to Stinson beach for Noah's gramma's birthday (Yay Judy). All down hill along a running stream. Noah found so many cool looking mushrooms and everyone meandered the tide pool on the beach. Then we gorged at a little restaurant in Stinson Beach. Thanks for inviting the CrockerBoys.

Undead Halloween 2009

Back to the blog after a month or so hiatus. Here are some pictures of the living dead at our house. Notice the dead finger necklace in case the zombies get hungry. Reminds me of creating monster faces with my big make-up kit when I was in elementary school.

First Day of School... Already

Jasper's last year of elementary school (5th grade). Silas starting 2nd grade.

What a great summer, can't believe it is already over. We are looking forward to hunkering down and enjoying the rhythms of fall: family, school, friends, and surf.

Del Mar Days for July 4th

JASPER SAYS: My vacation was very fun. We went surfing and body surfing and boogie boarding. We also had SiSi and my birthday. We also went hiking at Red Rocks and found this really cool sculpture that had three things that looked like gears and standing up on 3 poles. We also went to La Jolla Cove and went snorkeling. We a bunch of fish. The main one we saw were Garibaldi. Garabildi is an orange fish.
SILAS SAYS: We went to Red Rocks and had a really fun time. We letterboxed in Red Rocks, we fixed them up. I found this crazy thing that has these cones on the sides and a bucket at the bottom of the cones. It had 3 of those lots of cones. We went to La Jolla cove. We saw lots of fish, there were millions. The second time we went to the Cove the waves were big and it was not as much fun.

Silas Turns Seven

SILAS SAYS: My birthday was fun because a lot of people came over and we had a really good cake. And the special thing about the cake was me and Jasper and Amy made it in the morning. Then right before we were going to leave for the birthday party I decorated it with M&Ms as a teddy bear. We had my party at Powerhouse Park in Del Mar. I played Frisbee with Jasper, Ben and my dad. And jasper did the meanest thing he's ever done to me. He said these things in this bag were really sweet, but they were actually peppers and he made me eat them.

Early Fathers Day

The boys will not be here on Fathers Day, so this evening Jasper cooked me a three course meal and gave me an iTunes card from his hard earned money. What a sweet evening for DaDa and the CrockerBoys.
JASPER: I had a really good Fathers Day because I made my dad dinner and gave him a gift certificate for me massaging him and a gift certificate for iTunes.
SILAS: Since I did not want to celebrate Fathers Day yet so I didn't give him a present yet.

Makers Fair 2009

SILAS SAYS: The Makers Fair so fun because we got to see these boats from WWI and WWII battle with little bb's. It wasn't very exciting because only one ship sunk and two pieces blew off of two other ships. We got to see this metal hand pick up a stove 20 or 30 feet in the air and drop it. It tore up the stove so much, it just tore it up. It was fun because Ben-O came with us. We got to see the life size version of the game mouse trap. It took them 15 or 16 years the mouse trap and it takes them 4 days to set it up. There is this one room where there is like computers, printers and other electronics. There is also screwdrivers, wire cutters, and other tools to help you tear them apart and then make something out of it.
JASPER SAYS: The Makers Fair was really fun because we went with Ben and there was so many really cool things. There was a really cool hand that crushed a stove and a couple 55 gallon drums. The hand worked when someone put their hand in this metal thing and moved their fingers and it mover the big hand. There was also a little boat battle, where people made boats and they put them in the water. They had little turrets with bb-guns and they shot at each other to try to sink each other. To sink the other boat, you had to penetrate the balsa wood hull. There was a lot of cool thing at the Makers Fair and I enjoyed all of them.

Another Sunny Weekend

SILAS SAYS: Standing up on the surfboard was so fun, but I have only done it three times in my life. I was able to stand up on the board today because the waves were small and I was trying to stand up quicker. Before I took my ride on the wave to stand, but it was easier today because I got up quicker. We made this giant merman it was about 5 to 6 feet tall.

JASPER SAYS: I feel glad because SySy is learning to stand up surfing. Over the weekend we went to the beach almost every day. One day we went to the beach and made a giant merman king and the next day we just went to the beach and surfed and boogie boarded. George, Rachel, Leah, and the Horowitz family came to the beach with us both days. It was very sunny that weekend. When I was surfing for the whole weekend it made me super dooper dooper dooper tired. Goodnight.

Oholone Time Machine

JASPER SAYS: For my school project I had to do an Ohlone test. The Ohlone are a Native American tribe. Their borders are from present day San Francisco to present day Monterrey. We have been studying the Ohlone for a long time. I also had to do a diorama. Most people did a diorama on a flat surface, but I did mine on the computer. I made huts, acorn granaries, tule sun shades, tule canoes, and fish racks in the program SketchUp. I put them on Google Earth when I was done. The pictures below are the results of my project.
